GULAG HA HA employs Banana Bag & Bodice’s arresting style of ensemble performance fusing unqualified cognizance, life-size geometric constraints and kinetic cacophony for a truly captivating theatrical experience. Using heightened language and poetic prose, GULAG HA HA is an absurdist study on the effects of mental and physical torture inflicted on political prisoners, the relationship and power struggle between inmate and guard and how similar their existences can be.

Underscored by live music using found objects such as car springs and license plates, fish bowls and abstracted harmonicas, the soundscape supports the haunting timbre of the language.
